Story: Disco Singh is the story of an orchestra proprietor Latu Singh (Diljit Dosanjh), a struggling singer from a humble background. He longs for Sweety (Surveen Chawla) who is a model but the stark difference in their lifestyles keeps his longing limited to just his dreams. Things turn around when he is asked to fake a relationship with the girl of his dreams at gunpoint from the don of the city played by Manoj Pahwa.

Review: Disco Singh is the third film of the blockbuster combo of director Anurag Singh and actor Diljit Dosanjh. Earlier they have come together in the 'Jatt & Juliet' series and have gained a lot of acclaim as well as appreciation. Here comes a film which has everything going in it's favour but except for one thing. It has a great star cast, superb director, a big production house but sadly it doesn't have a great story which is worthy of being made into a feature film.

Director Anurag Singh also happens to be the writer of this film. Having written 'Yaar Anmulle' earlier and also co-written the 'Jatt & Juliet' series one expects his writing to be water tight but alas it's not! The writing starts to fall flat after the initial twenty minutes. Also there was so much in the plot which was completely unwanted and had it been not there the film could have been shaped in a much better way. Dialogues have been written by Anurag Singh and Amberdeep Singh who had a successful outing with Jatt & Juliet 2 together and they continue the same momentum here but it was not as impressive as their earlier collaboration.

Now comes Anurag Singh, the director. He once again excels as a director. He is one half of the soul of the film, other half obviously being Diljit. He handles some crunch moments with ease as he is used to doing it. Also his DOP, Anshul Choubey raises the bar of his work once again. It was probably the first time a Punjabi film was being shot in Delhi and yes he's shown us some stunning visuals of the capital and challenges the work of some of the finest DOP's of Bollywood who have shot films in Delhi.

Music was by Jatinder Shah and this time it was an average affair. No doubt that the songs are peppy but they will all blow away with the wind and are not here to stay for a longer period of time but some of them were able to gather the momentum in the pre-release period like Diljit's Happy Birthday is the best song of the lot followed by Kamal Khan's Sad number Faislet and Sweetu, again by Diljit.

Now coming to the performances. Diljit Dosanjh excels yet again. This time he is playing Lattu Singh and not Fateh Singh. But frankly, most of his antics remind the viewer again and again of the memorable Fateh Singh and somehow make you feel that it was just another extension of what else Fateh can do. But as i told earlier, he is another half of the soul of the film alongside Anurag Singh. However, now it's the need of the hour that Diljit does something different from his regular gimmicks just like his contemporaries are doing. Surveen Chawla looks looks hot in this one and by far the best role she has done in her career. Cheers to her styling team for having done some great work with her costumes. As an actor, she seems to have grown an extra mile from her last release.

Now the supporting cast was headed by Manoj Pahwa, but one feels that he is getting repetitive when it comes to his choice of roles in Punjabi films. He's had 3 released and in all of them he's played the role of a Funny Gangster. But by far, this is the best role out of the all 3 roles he's done. He faced some problems with his Punjabi accent but his acting makes up for that. The show stealer in this supporting cast was BN Sharma. This is not the first time that he has excelled but in this film he did a great job where he plays a feminist character. His facial expressions are noteworthy of a praise. Karamjit Anmol and Chandan Prabhakar get limited scope and are time pass. For Upasna Singh, it was yet another Comedy Nights but here it was not with Kapil and also for a chance, she was married! Newcomer Apporva Arora was a good pick for the role she played but her role lacked the meat.

Overall, Disco Singh is not something what you have never seen before. Go with minimal expectations unlike me and who knows you might end up having some fun at least. Also 'Diljit the Superman', gets very limited scope in the film.
